Location: Kanab, UT

Position Summary: The Medical Operations Director under the guidance of the Medical Director and Executive Director, leads and aligns the medical department with the overall Organization's strategic plan. Directs the work of the medical team, focusing on achieving the greatest impact and providing the highest quality of care possible. Stays abreast of trends in veterinary medicine and actively promotes interdepartmental collaboration to achieve lifesaving goals, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage clinic and satellite team veterinarians, leads/staff setting clear goals and expectations.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the medical director and executive director to identify, create, and implement opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures for the clinic and satellite operation(s).
  • In partnership with the executive director, prepare and manage the operational budget and metrics for the clinic.
  • Identify, track, and implement opportunities, strategies, and tactics for improving client, volunteer, and employee satisfaction
  • Ensure the growth of skills and continuing education resources for the team.
  • Develop progressive programs that engage the public, volunteers, and staff to promote the hospital and quality animal care.
  • Develop financial and historic operational statistics by way of research and reporting as needed by the clinic and other departments/divisions.
  • Keep abreast of concerns and trends in the animal welfare movement / shelter medicine.
  • Maintain a safe workplace, valuing, and modeling safe work practices, adhering to organizational safety practices and rules, and communicating about unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Demonstrate kindness and the Golden Rule in our everyday actions by practicing inclusion and respect for every person for the value they bring to the table. Be a role model for the spirit of authenticity and positive influence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Effectively handle all species of animals with a variety of temperaments.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing work requiring concentration and manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to perform full range of movement: stretching, bending, squatting, climbing, lifting to 50 pounds, etc.
  • Work can be outdoors in variable weather conditions and frequently requires the physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor
  • Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm, and hand motion
  • Ability to travel via various forms of public transportation for organization events including conferences, media events, etc.
