Location: Kanab, Utah

Position Summary: Responsible for engineering, architecture and the daily management of Network Infrastructure, including Branch office, VPN and Data Center connectivity. Responsible for all upgrades and design engineering of complex  network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, Fiber Optic, Ethernet and Wireless infrastructures and network security. Network engineer works on projects as assigned, to integrate new systems into, as well as update, design and enhance, the existing network infrastructure.













Network Engineering:  Responsible for LAN/WAN engineering, Route/Switch Engineering and configuration, network design architecture and maintenance of complex network infrastructure including routers, switches,  wireless access points, firewalls, VPN and other network hardware. Analyzes problems and recommends the best solutions or corrective actions.  Develops and maintains accurate network documentation. Assists with coordination of all network upgrades and network architecture, implementation and network design and participates in the engineering and architecture for entire Data and Voice infrastructure. Leads  engineering, planning and coordination of all network upgrades and design implementations. Installs and configures network hardware, supports network infrastructure and data center cabling and related hardware. Orders, stores, and tracks quantities of essential and frequently used telecommunication and fiber optic supplies. Ordering and provisioning of network and data equipment.

Voice Engineering/Architecture:  Responsible for implementation and design for VoIP telephony infrastructure. Provides Engineering and Design expertise and advice on telecommunications and data network system designs, layout, and modifications. Manages and performs system Engineering for Cisco VoIP phone system Cisco Unified Communication managers and Cisco Unity voice mail.  


Fiber Optic/Data Infrastructure Engineering:  Responsible for leading fiber optic splicing design, and architecture - including continuity testing, OTDR trace analysis and optical power meter data of fiber optic cables. Installs, maintains, repairs, and relocates, data communication copper and fiber-optic cables and equipment. Maintain current and accurate records of cable usage, location, and troubles. Assists with testing of fiber optic patch cords and other network equipment and cabling. Assists with ordering of supplies used for telecommunication and fiber optic work.






System Engineering: Assists System Engineering and Architecture activities in coordinating and scheduling the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems software, database management systems, applications, application development environments and data center design and architecture. Responsible for maintain secure network environment for applications and servers system.

Project Management:  Assist in coordination of projects between technical and non-technical staff and organizational departments.  Analyze business data support needs and propose solutions.  Plan and manage the technical implementation of necessary technical solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP Certification a plus or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • 3-4+ years experience in Data/Voice Networking and Infrastructure network solutions.
  • Experience with Cisco platforms, Catalyst 6500 series, 37xx, 36xx, etc.
  • Knowledge of Firewalls such as Cisco ASA and related Security Architectures
  • Strong expertise in the design, installation and configuration of Cisco Unified Communication and Unity Connection on Cisco UCS
  • Experience designing and implementing Wi-Fi infrastructure and Wireless security designs.
  • Candidates must have experience interacting with Telco and Internet Service providers, including understanding of SIP Voice trunking, MPLS and Voice Engineering.
  • Hands on skills related to installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing software, hardware and peripherals.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, applications and services - Server, Active Directory, DNS, etc
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
  • Outstanding communications and initiative with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, especially with regards to documenting procedures, writing help screens for applications programs, and training materials.
  • Must have proficiency with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, research, databases and presentation software. (MS Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and using online information systems.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Google Applications and Google Apps platform.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and essential administration tasks for desktops and servers and Mobile Devices.
  • Knowledge of Macintosh Operating Systems, installation, maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting.  
  • Valid driver's license with access to transportation to travel on organization business. May require travel via various forms of public transportation and overnight stays.
  • Flexibility to work weekend, holiday, and evening hours as needed in addition to normal business hours.

Physical Requirements


  • Able to work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.
